On 15 November the Association for intellectual property protection “BelBrand” held a meeting of the Discussion Club. A topic for discussion this time is “Counterfeiting: social and economic consequences”.
By opening the meeting, the chairman of the BelBrand Association Albert Taipov emphasized that it takes place a day before the commencement of the 6th International Forum “Anti-Counterfeiting 2018” scheduled for 19-21 October in Moscow. The given forum takes place every year in one of member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union with the support received from the Government of the Russian Federation, the Eurasian Economic Commission, and other organizations.
As participants of the meeting of the BelBrand Discussion Club acted the members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, the National Centre of Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus, the National Centre of Intellectual Property, Belarusian enterprises, patent attorneys of the Republic of Belarus.
For information: the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation addressed a request to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus to take an active part in the International Forum “Anti-Counterfeiting 2018”.
The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus (MART) set up the inter-agency committee on counteraction to the illicit traffic of industrial output. In addition, the MART held a working meeting with representatives of relevant authorities and those who are interested in participation in the Anti-Counterfeiting Forum.
In this connection, the chief task of the meeting of the BelBrand Discussion Club became the necessity in reconciliation of attitudes of various structures towards certain questions and suggestions with respect to liberalization of a parallel import, education in the field of intellectual property protection, unification of norms of legislation in the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union that provide for liabilities for the illicit use of intellectual property, reinforcement of significance of public organizations and associations in brands protection, protection of intellectual property assets, struggle against unfair competition, promotion of Belarusian brands, and so on.
Following the results of discussion, proceedings prepared by the BelBrand Association in order to specify attitudes of representatives of the Republic of Belarus participated in the Anti-Counterfeiting Forum were approved by all attendees.
